Building Relationships

“A new commandment I give you: Love one another, as I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know you are my disciples, if you love one another.”  (John 13:34-35)

The best way by which we concretely live out our calling as a community is by relating to one another as a real family, as brothers and sisters committed to build up one another. This we do in the different levels of relationships, forging strong bonds of love and peace. Depending on our state of life — whether we’re married or single, adult or youth — Ligaya provides us plenty of opportunities for peer support.

Husband and Wife

Married couples find great support and nourishment in their relationship through the pastoral care and guidance provided them by the community. Husbands and wives receive teachings and practical inputs on different areas of married life which enable them to live out their married vocation in unity and faithfulness. In so doing, Ligaya lays the foundation for a healthy family life. Hence, a stable community.

Children’s Formation and Young Adults Programs

When God called us to love Him and obey Him, He also commanded us to have our children follow after us. Thus, we prepare the future Ligaya members, our children, to enter the legacy of Christian community life. As a support to parents, the LNP has a program for children ages 4 to 12 called the Children’s Formation Program and for teens, 13 to 18, called Young Adults Program. These give children of Ligaya members an experience of the Christian community way of life and are provided alternative peer groups and significant activities in deepening their faith in Jesus Christ.

Singles’ Life

In Ligaya, the singles are given support as well, as they strengthen relationships with one another as brothers and sisters in Christ and as they prepare to make significant decisions in their lives in such areas as career, state of life and marriage.

Lay Celibates

For most people, God’s call is to be “single for a while,” but for some brothers and sisters, the call involves a life-long commitment to live single for the Lord. Ligaya provides spiritual and brotherly support to these men and women, who go through a long process of formation and careful discernment before deciding to live a life of chastity and apostolic service.

A group of men in the Ligaya have made such a commitment, dedicating themselves to a life of celibacy and simplicity as well as a life lived in common with other brothers. All of them are working full-time in the service of the Lord through the Ligaya’s apostolate with the youth. The are part of an international brotherhood of men called the Servants of the Word.

Caring for Older Members

Our loving one another cuts across generations. Community life is for both the young and the old, married and the single alike. In Ligaya, the older folks find refuge in the love and care of brothers and sisters who tend to their practical and spiritual needs. Truly, this covenant community has become an extended family to many of us.
