Our Response to the Call

How did we respond to the call of God?

In faith, we accepted our name and by it understood our vocation as a community : we were to be a people of joy bringing the gospel of peace and salvation to the people around us. We understood that joy comes in the knowledge that God lives among us, loves us and shares His life with us, and as a people share His love with one another.

Each Year, as we celebrate our covenant relationship with Jesus, our Lord, we recognize that it was truly His Word that we heard in prayer and that formed us into a community. Only He has the power to call us into existence. Only He can bestow on us the grace to grow in number, in our love for one another, and in our Christian commitment.

Today, we witness the unfolding fulfillment of our call as we examine the condition of our society. There is widespread discouragement, fear, anxiety, extreme poverty, injustice and social corruption. In our search for a meaningful response to this condition, the road leads us to the narrow path which our Church have trod for ages: salvation is possible only through Jesus Christ – in this life and in the life to come.
