NEW COORDINATORS INSTALLED

Three Sector Coordinators, three District Coordinators, and one Senior Head Coordinator were installed during the 35th Anniversary Celebration of Ligaya ng Panginoon last July 18, 2010.

The three District Coordinators included Leo Banog as Initiations Coordinator for North Sector, and both Jim Orbe and Toby Estrella as Coordinators for University District.

In line with the sector empowerment plan that the Ligaya ExCom had rolled out last year, three sector coordinators who were elected by their respective sectors in September 2009 were also officially installed during this anniversary celebration.   The coordinators are:  Andy Juan (North Sector), Melmarx Marcojos (Central Sector), and Rey Icasas (South Sector).   This is the first time in Ligaya’s history that Sector Coordinators are elected by the body, rather than appointed by the Senior Head Coordinator.  See related article:  Ligaya Elects Sector Coordinators.

"It is my joy and my privilege to serve you in this capacity as God wills it."

SPANKY MEER — New Senior Head Coordinator

Then came Spanky Meer’s turn to be installed as Senior Head Coordinator to replace Tony Panajon.   Kuya Tony and Fr. Herb led the community to pray over Kuya Spanky Meer and his wife, Apples.   Spanky was elected by the Council of Coordinators last February 6, 2010, and his service begins immediately upon this installation.  See related article:  Spanky Meer: Senior Head Coordinator-Elect.

“The day after my election on February 6 this year,” Spanky said, “I knew my life was not going to be the same again.”  Addressing the Community for the first time as Senior Head Coordinator, Spanky exhorted the Community on what he believed are the three essential elements of a vibrant community: (a) the love of a family; (b) the discipline of an army; and (c) the presence of the Holy Spirit.  (See related post for details: The Essentials of a Vibrant Community.)

Kuya Spanky closed his exhortation with what he believed is “God’s marching orders.”  Interpreting the verse from Matt 8:22 where Jesus said, “Let the dead bury the dead,” Kuya Spanky said that while these words may sound like a very harsh rebuke, “they’re actually words of compassion and wisdom.”   He took these as our marching orders to radical discipleship because he took it to mean that God is saying to the Community:  “‘Do not put limits on what the Holy Spirit can do in our lives, if we only allow Him!’”
